Welcome to Steamboat Springs’ Mountain Tap Brewery

The Mountain Tap Brewery is a welcome addition to Steamboat Springs’ brewery scene. Sure there are other fish in town, but they seem to be lacking one of two essential elements: 1) location or 2) quality craft brew.  Mountain Tap Brewery has both (and great pizza to top it off!!!).

Located at 910 Yampa Street, Steamboat Springs, CO, you can find Mountain Tap directly in the center of everything in downtown Steamboat. Mahogany Grill has a higher profile, but their beer pretty much sucks. Mountain Tap’s beverages blow Mahogany’s beers straight out of the water — there’s simply no comparison.

The summertime atmosphere with the open garage doors and picnic tables is perfect.  Whether you’re finishing an adrenaline-filled day on Howelsen Hill, wrapping up a day of fly fishing, or slinking out of the Yampa River with your tube, Mountain Tap Brewery is the perfect place to kick back and relax – listening to the river across the street.  As an added bonus, the patio is a great space to let your kids run loose.

We highly recommend sampling the Picking Hops and Passionate Pedal brews.  The Piking Hops brew is dry hopped and will explode in your mouth. The Passionate Pedal’s citrus touches will absolutely quench your thirst.

We would be remiss if we didn’t also mention the snacks on hand. Our party of four ordered the wood-fired veggies, margherita pizza, and cured pizza. Don’t pass up the veggies – the seasoning and combination of earthly goods is to die for. The pizzas fire out of a world-class oven that makes you wish you only had 100 extra square feet in your house to plant one. While you might not live past 50 on a diet of wood-fired pizza, you’d certainly die a happy human.

Mountain Tap buzzes with people.  We ran into one of my childhood friends, and someone Josh knew from college.  You’ll find tourists, short-term residents, and even way-back locals mingling and enjoying good brew.

Liz grew up in Steamboat Springs. She ski raced around the state (across the country and abroad too!) and was on CU’s NCAA national championship ski team. Liz is most proud of thru-hiking the Colorado Trail. These days, in addition to mountain biking, hot springing, and photographing her way through the Centennial State, Liz teaches yoga and inspires others to enjoy the finer points in life.
