Vail is a quintessential Colorado mountain town with a unique feel. We’ve enjoyed 4th of July weekends, winter getaways, and countless summer adventures in Vail’s splendor. However, spring and fall are our favorite times to visit because there are fewer people and deals on accommodations and restaurants. And there’s no place we’d rather stay than the Sonnenalp Hotel.
Sonnenalp Hotel Review
The Sonnenalp Hotel offers both hotel rooms and suites. It also offers pure luxury. We visited a couple years ago in mid-May and had the pool and the spa to ourselves. Even to this day, I still think back to the couple’s massage Liz and I unwound to! The Sonnenalp was quiet, inviting, and absorbing. Like butter, we melted away in the amazingly soft bed. It’s also just a short walk to the ski lifts and restaurants at Vail.
Their European spa and gym was impressive – it’s an amazing 10,000 square foot European spa with indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs. Want to know the best part? You can actually swim through a tunnel if you want to shift between the indoor to outdoor pool.
The hotel has a knowledgeable concierge staff. All of the service is fantastic. The front desk has everything you’d want – including backpacks, fanny packs, and clean water bottles – to loan so that you can enjoy a nearby hike or walk along the Gore Trail (located right next to the property). You really can’t ask for much more!
