Don’t Miss Out On Shanahan’s Steakhouse in the Denver Tech Center

Shanahans Steakhouse

I recently had an eye-opening experience that now makes me associate the Denver Tech Center with taste bud tantalization thanks to Shanahan’s Steakhouse. Conceived by former Denver Broncos coach, Mike Shanahan, this force of a steakhouse not only has something delectable for everyone, but it delivers with a slick elegance that is a rare treat to behold.

From the outside, you almost feel as though you are about to walk into an art museum. But once inside, the incredible aromas and warm and lively atmosphere welcome you in. Rich, dark colors, a sturdy bar, cozy booths, and the massive wine room made me want to smoke a cigar and sip Armagnac by the fireplace.

We were there with a number of friends for a celebratory dinner. Even though it was a Tuesday, the place was packed from 5:30 pm when we arrived until the moment we left at 10:30pm. Our culinary desires immediately honed in on the appetizers of giant coconut shrimp, crispy Point Judith calamari, and chilled crab cocktail. We enjoyed Deutz Blanc de Blancs 2008 Champagne with the apps – there are simply no words!

Our entrees included Shanahan’s signature filet mignon, seared ahi tuna sashimi over sticky rice, seared jumbo sea scallops, and several family style sides of grilled asparagus, creamed spinach, and truffle Cheddar mac n’ cheese with lobster. To wash everything down, we sipped glasses of Olivier Leflaive Premier Cru Rully Les Cloux Chardonnay, Big Table Farms Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and Ladera Reserve Cabernet Howell Mountain 2013.

Pour Me Some Vino!

Being fatter and happier than I’d been in ages, and also being a silly, silly woman, I thought that was the end. But NOOOO! Dessert followed suit. It consisted of carrot cake, the likes of which I’ve never had, and salted caramel crème brulee. The desserts were paired with small glasses of vintage Port – and my personal favorite – some deliciously sweet and bitter Amaro Nonino.

Now I have wined and dined with some of the best of them in my day, and this gorgeous dinner will undoubtedly go down as one of the finest yet. I raise a glass to the fantastic staff of Shanahan’s Steakhouse!
