Big Choice Brewing in Broomfield

Big Choice Brewing

You can find a picture of the Volkswagen car that inspired their recently released “Type 3 IPA” hanging behind the bar. Volkswagens have been a lifelong passion of Big Choice Brewing brewer, Nathaniel Miller.  Earlier this month, Big Choice Brewing released their “Type 3 IPA.”  They invited anyone with a Volkswagen to come and celebrate. The inspiring ride for their release is a beautiful white Squareback that will be forever memorialized in their new beer.

Big Choice Brewing

Not as hoppy as their previous “Type 2,” “Type 3” is an American IPA that is incredibly smooth, crisp, and full of flavor. If you have the opportunity to try it on cask, do. On the other hand, if you’re not afraid to try new things, you may want to try their “Poblano Stout.” This beer is an oatmeal stout dry-hopped with poblano peppers – a traditional stout with all of the poblano flavor; a touch spicy but do not let that deter you. Within an hour of sitting at the bar, I found this beer was incredibly popular with regulars and had to try it myself. The flavor of the peppers is profound but delicious.

On Tap at Big Choice Brewing

They have a wide selection on tap:  Disconnected Red, Poblano Stout, Type 2 and 3, and Starry Night – a Black IPA. A couple mixes are offered as well and are highly recommended by the staff. Their beers are sold in cans and can be purchased at various liquor stores in the Denver area. At the brewery, growlers are also available.

Family-owned, Big Choice’s staff is friendly and provides excellent service. It’s easy to see Nathaniel and his wife, Andrea, are passionate about their work. Their establishment may be hard-to-find (you wouldn’t expect a brewery when you drive through the area), but I guarantee you will find your way back.
